Face the Sun and Breathe

Posted by

In West African Vodun, we believe that the world was animated at creation by the breadth of the great Primordial Mother Nana Buluku.  Therefore, in our practice of African Vodun, we believe that controlled breathing should be a practice of elevation.

We believe that a major problem with the world is the misalignment of people's hearts with hun (deities...especially their nature aspects) and higher ancestral spirits.  We believe that sitting facing the xwe (the sun in the Fon language) is to receive the essence of the divinity.  This practice can be specified for an individual deity or specific group of spirits.
